ANA-RITA
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Ana-Rita would have already died at least three times, at least if it had been up to her owner because he treated her so badly. When she could no longer stand or walk other people brought her to the vet. As it turned out, she was not only severely malnourished but also had advanced Parvo. She was of course immediately put on a drip, but the assistant had to turn her over onto her other side every half hour because she was so weak that she could not turn by herself. Our vet nursed her for more than two months in his clinic and now she is very much alive. Due to the many weeks of laying on her side, she has open wounds and sores on both sides of her buttocks, which are now healing. She is a very sweet dog and very grateful, grateful to the people who saved her life, because she knows that. Ana-Rita will not be returned to her "bad boss". Luckily she has not yet lost her faith in people. Ana-Rita is about one year old, about 25 cm high and weighs 6 kg.

ARCHIE
TIBETAN SPANIEL CROSS, MALE
ARCHIE is a small, mixed breed, male doggy. He weighs 11.6 kg and has beautiful medium to long hair. He presented himself at the house of an English couple and wouldn't go away. They live at the top of a hill so not the first house a dog would encounter.
He had no collar or identification whatsoever and is very lonely and sad. The couple travel between Portugal and UK so cannot adopt him. They have a big cat but Archie is OK with cats which proves he is used to living on the street. He is fine with other dogs as well.

BADJI
MIXED BREED, MALE
Sunday should be a day of rest but when you work in animal rescue this is often not the case. Last night 5 pups were once again taken out of a car and dumped near the shelter in the pitch dark of course. Imagine the scenario for the pups; born, cuddle warm with mummy, drink and play and then WHAM, pushed into a cold box and dumped at a strange place. What kind of "people" do these things? Would they do it with their own children?
Four are males; Badji, Bufalo, Biscuit and Bonifacio and one female, Bridge. They are now about 6 weeks old so born at the beginning of January 2016. Pups are very social and not at all scared of people as so many are. We presume they spent their first weeks in a house. Have been wormed and will be vaccinated soon. Expected adult size is medium.

Belmira came to us as a puppy as nobody wanted to give her a home. She grew into a beautiful young lady and we had no intention to put her up for adoption.
However, we are getting older as well and caring for all our animals is quite a hard job. But to Belmira's luck we were asked by lovely people if they could adopt her and we said "Yes".

PODENGO CROSS, FEMALE
BIANCA is a white Podengo cross female about 10 months old now (born mid January 2015) and weighs 11 kg. She was found abandoned very close to a well where she could fall in and drown. So a German lady rescued her and took her to the shelter. She was immediately sterilised and vaccinated.
She lives in a group of dogs of all sizes and genders and loves to play with balls. When I visit she likes to nibble at my ankles to get attention. Will make a lovely pet with a bit of patience and time to spend on her.

BILLY
PODENGO CROSS, MALE
An elderly Englishman walked his dog somewhere in the campo, away from the civilized world. The path went uphill. Just before he reached the top he stumbled and because of his bloody legs, he decided it would be enough and limped back to his car. Arrived at his car, he noticed that he had lost his car keys, probably they fell out of his pocket when he stumbled. He went back to the spot where he had fallen, there were his car keys and went back to his car. All this took about 15 minutes and when he arrived at the car there stood next to his car a box with three puppies, two females and one male. He kept one of the females himself and Billy and his sister Betty were taken to the shelter. Billy was born around May 30, 2016, he is a shorthair Podengo cross and will be a small medium when he is fully grown.

BLUE
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Her puppies NABU, NILO, NACHO all males were born in a municipal holding kennel ( formerly called "killing stations") but luckily this is now against the law. A caring person took them and their mother away from there and brought them to a private shelter.
At the same time another pup called NOMAD was found in a dustbin nearby and was accepted by the mother dog so became part of her litter and got his puppy milk which is important for the future health of pups.
Mother dog is quite small so we expect dogs to be small adults. Blue is about 2 years old and weighs about 6 kg.

He was also lucky that holiday guests were staying there, people who fed him and let him stay until their holiday was over. But then what?
Breeze is now in a temporary foster home and waiting for his permanent family. He is about 5 months old now (born about April 1, 2016), vaccinated etc., playful with other dogs and acquainted with cats. He has long legs and tail and enchanting green eyes.

BUGAS
ROUGH-HAIRED CROSS BREED, MALE
Poor little BUGAS, when we received the email about this little dog, I thought immediately of all the dogs we have had here that started off so scared of the "new" world around them after having been abandoned. Then when we took them in, into our house and living room, into the routine of running a house, crazy doghouse, yes, but nevertheless a good place for dogs to learn, they all soon adapted, lost their fears and quickly discovered the gate to the kitchen.
So Bugas is coming here in foster to learn all about living with us and becoming a house doggy.
He will be castrated and fully vaccinated and ready for adoption after 4 weeks or so.
He is about one year old now and weighs 4.8 kg.

CHANEL
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Last weekend we had a big dilemma. Our foster mum who lives in a small village in the middle of nowhere was confronted by a neighbour who had found a homeless female with 7 pups hiding in scrubland near her house. Pups had to be caught as were already walking around on their own. They were all female. If we do not catch female pups and just leave them to fend for themselves, next year will bring another litter of pups for every female pup. And there would be more than 60 dogs by next Christmas. It's Christmas time and everyone is busy with food and presents. All the shelters are full, packed to the brim, or should I say, "sky" but we have to do something. 3 female pups were caught quickly and homes found. 2 females followed and the last 2 females had to be caught in a trap. So we have 4 females for adoption. Pups are small and of a light build and probably 6/7 weeks old.
Mother is now also in the shelter and will be spayed next month. She is shy but quickly getting used to people around her. She is medium size, about 15kg.

CORA
MIXED BREED FEMALE
Cora gets her name from the first letter of the place we found her and her pups, Corotelo, part of Sao Bras de Alportel. She was living wild in a field adjacent to the main road to Loule. She had her pups in the hollow trunk of a Carob tree, 5 in total.
At the age of 4 weeks pups start walking and exploring so we had to get them out of there, plus mother of course. There's nopoint in taking pups and leaving mother to wander and get pregnant again at her next season. Catching mothers is often not easy and here we needed the help of a local teacher who had been feeding mum. She put vetranquil in the food and we waited nearly an hour for her to go down. The teacher stayed near her but in this situation a mother never goes far from her pups so Cora was able to be caught with a slip collar and lead and a large towel over her head in case she would bite Ad.
We took them all home with us and all pups were adopted. Cora is now getting more sociable every day and loves treats. She jumps on me over and over again to get a tasty biscuit.
Cora is a medium, rough-coated mixed breed, white with some black spots. Her ears are lovely and she probably has a few Dalmation genes in her DNA. She needs a family with understanding and patience to forget the bad life she had before. Cora is neutered and vaccinated. She is under 2 years old.

DAMY
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Damy was rescued from a municipal pound where dogs are put down after +/-8 days. The young lady who took her in thought she was doing a good deed. Because she herself had no work and unemployment is high in Portugal, she spent her days having fun with Damy including going to the beach, walks etc etc. She lived in the house, ate in the kitchen, sat on the sofa..all things that our pets are used to.
Suddenly, one day, the lady was offered a job abroad and "bingo" Damy needed to be rehomed in a very short space of time. Sad and traumatic for the dog. She is in the shelter now with lots of other dogs and no sofa to lie on or walks to the beach.
Damy was born in December 2013, weighs 17 kg, vaccinated and sterilised. She is sociable with all her companion dogs, is very nice and kind to everyone, afraid of nothing, walks well on the lead and will make a wonderful pet. She has really beautiful eyes, is very sweet and cuddly and needs another home quickly.

Flynn, a male now about 5 or 6 months of age (born in early November 2015), was found wandering the streets. He is very sweet, social and playful, walks well on a leash and can unfortunately only be walked twice a day, because he lives in a crate in the van of the shelter, because there really is no place for him. He is very excited and happy when he is allowed out of his cage for a while for his daily walk. He is due to his stay on the street still very lean and the expectation that he will be medium size when adult.

FOXY
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
About a half year ago Foxy knocked at the door of an English woman who lives in the middle of nowhere. How she got there nobody knows, but probably she was dumped by hunters. Because she was not welcome, she was sent away each time. But where to go? She remained thus knocking at the door. She was getting thinner and her condition got worse so finally the door was opened for her. And what was once a shy and fearful dog turned into a beautiful and joyful dog, which likes to be cuddled and stroked. Just a lovely dog. Because her new owner was moving back to England she searched for and found an adoption family and Foxy was going to live in France. But unfortunately, at the last moment the adoption fell through and the moving van will arrive at end of this week. Foxy so ended up in the shelter in spite of the fact that she always thought she had found her own house. Foxy is ready to travel, because she has not unpacked her suitcase. She weighs about 12 kg.

A friend called us and Ad went to pick them up having no other alternative so quickly.
Pups have been wormed, had first vaccine and will be ready to go to homes half March. Travel abroad end of March.
Freddy loves children and people, dogs as well. Walks loose and is good on recall. Likes sitting in the car. He is 56 cm tall and weighs 18 kg.

FRODO
MIXED BREED, MALE
Frodo arrived at the shelter together with his sister Fiesta. His owner could no longer care for him because she had moved into a nursing home. Her children wanted to have the house but not the dogs of their mother. Something very common in Portugal. It is here in Portugal quite different as in our country. If you inherit the house you also inherit the dogs and you take care of the dogs, most probably the last companions of your parents. Don't you? Frodo is now about 1 year old and very small. He weighs just 7 kg. He is very sweet and affectionate and likes to play with other dogs. As he is now surrounded with a lot of noise in the shelter he's a little bit anxious, but when he is going to live in a loving home that will be over soon. His sister Fiesta has already found her new home.

GEORGE
MIXED BREED, MALE
In Portugal, it is good practice when you throw something away that may still have value for somebody that you should not throw that thing in the garbage but you put it neatly next to the bin. The next person passing the bin may be interested in that thing that had no value for you. That happened to Marie-Jose yesterday. She parked her car at the supermarket, walked past the bins and saw there was a large iron paint tin next to the bins. She looked down and saw what resembled a dead cat. Who puts a dead cat next to the bins? She looked again and realised it was not a dead cat but two live pups of about two months. We call them George and Greta. They are estimated to be born around February 13, 2016 and are expected to remain small.

GERTIE
SMALL MIXED BREED, FEMALE
GERTIE was already seen in one place at the river for a couple of months and she was obviously pregnant, but it was impossible to catch her, because she hid all the time. Eventually her hiding place was betrayed when her puppies appeared from a hollow tree where they were born. A young Dutch woman tried to gain her trust while feeding her and her pups and eventually she managed to catch Gertie and her puppies. At present Gertie is in a foster home to recover from all the terrible hardships. As soon as she is recovered, she will be sterilized and then returned to the field again. But do we want this? Of course not. Gertie deserves a home, like so many others. She is now accustomed to living in a house and experience that there are people who love her, she is a very happy and friendly dog. She walks well on a leash, likes to be picked up and loves to be on your lap. That is very easy because Gertie weighs only 5 kg. She is about 2 years old.

Dogs are being taken care of by English holidaymakers, living close by, who will be returning home after Christmas. So this is a very urgent adoption case.
Gino is the oldest pup, estimated date of birth 16 August 2015. We expect him to be a medium sized adult. His mother weighs about 15 kg.
Gino is now attending pup training classes.

Update 19-7-2016. Isabel is now 5 months old and has turned into a really sweet, affectionate doggy. She is still of a slight build with long legs and tail and must have some Galgo DNA. RAFEIRA ALENTEJANA, FEMALE
KATE, Alentejo Watchdog, was found wandering around the Intermarche supermarket in Sao Bras. No collar, no identification, a bit thin and hungry but not scared or frightened. She had been there for about a week when a kind rescuer picked her up. She was shy the first week but soon began to enjoy life in a kennel and run with 5 smallish male dogs. They run and play all day and sleep together at night. Her favourite guy is Teddy, our Podengo Andaluz. Kate needs a loving home with people who have experience with large breeds. Kate is a watch dog, a people and property guardian by nature. Gentle but attentive and watchful.
She is now about 8/9 months old, weighs 28kg but still growing and has been spayed, tested, vaccinated and chipped. She is ready to go to the right home.

Kenai's mother is a Rafeiro do Alentejo, a very big dog and Kenai will also be the same size. He may grow to 50 kg. Born on 1 February 2016 and so in these pics he is about 2 months old. It is easy to find him a home in Portugal, but that is not what we want. Because he will certainly be on a chain for the rest of his life to guard his boss belongings. He will never see the inside of a house. He will never be patted on his head and he will never hear a soft voice telling him he is a lovely boy. And that's why we don't want this. What we would like is to find him a loving family where he will be a full member of that family and where he can develop into a real friend and guardian, because that is what he would like to be.

KAFNA, KYTANA, KYSSEN AND KOISA are females and KUSKO is a male. Born around mid November 2015.
They are expected to be medium sized when adult.

HUSKY, FEMALE
ABANDONED, believe it or not with a collar and 3 pups, no chip or any identification.
This is LAPA from Lapland and her 3 daughters.

Mum will also be vaccinated and spayed. She is 2/3 years old. All are for adoption to Husky lovers with knowledge of the breed.

LORNA
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
LORNA is a mixed breed female pup with a lovely head full of character and expression in her eyes. But her story is not lovely at all. She was rescued together with 2 siblings from a dark barn with no light and no human contact.
This happens when ignorant people have a female dog to guard their property and the dog runs around even when she is on heat. Some of these ignorant souls do not even know "when" the dog is on heat and so they get pregnant and give birth to unwanted pups.
Some people drown the pups at birth, some put them in the garbage and some hide them away in out buildings. Lorna was lucky to be found and taken to a shelter where she has been socialised, fully vaccinated, wormed etc.
She is about 4.5 months old now ( born 12 May 2016) and ready to go to a loving home. We expect her to be a medium/ large size adult.

LUKE
MIXED BREED, MALE
LUKE is a small male, now about 4 months old. When he was found in the garbage bin more dead than alive, we thought he would not make it, but with all the power that was in him, he has fought to improve. And he is now healthy again. We think he is a cross Dachshund. He weighs about 5 kg at present (28-6-2016) and we expect him to be 9 kg when he grows up.

LUNALA
SMALL MIXED BREED, FEMALE
LUNALA was born on June 13, 2016 in a hollow tree far away from civilization. Her mother Gertie, who weighs only 5 kg, was already being watched but could not be caught at that time. Lunala is a very friendly puppy, who until now - fortunately - has met only friendly and loving people. She has no trauma after her wild adventure. She is now 8 weeks old and weighs 1.6 kg. She will therefore be somewhat larger than her mum. We estimate around 8 kg.

MAGALI
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Magali and Melina, two sisters, were dumped at the gate of the shelter without any comment but with the words "You take them or you don't, but then I will see what to do with them". Portuguese people never spay their bitches, because this is not allowed by the Good Lord and when pups are born they give them to family and friends. But nobody wanted Melina and Magali because they are females and they are black. And as ususal the foreigners have to solve the problem. So, now they are up for adoption. Melina and Magli seems to grow to a kind of mini Labrador. They are very playful and friendly to everything and everybody and don't know what it is to be shy. Estimated date of birth is 20 January 2016 and they will be less than 20 kg when adult.

MANDY
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Mandy was found together with two sisters under a garbage bin along a very busy main road, where they had hidden. How did she get there, she could not tell us. She's definitely not born in the wild, because she is very friendly, not anxious and wants to be with people. Probably she was a left-over after their brothers were given away to friends and family, because in Portugal nobody wants a bitch. Estimated date of birth is around April 15, 2016 and she will be medium large when adult.

MELVIN
CHIHUAHUA CROSS, MALE
A couple of days ago a man came to the shelter with a cardboard box with 3 pups inside.........he said he had found them like that but he also said they were about 3 months old. Well well, now its incognito vets bringing pups to the shelter, is it? Haha.
Obviously the pups belong to the guy who must have the mother dog, not spayed, had pups, family arranges homes for some of the litter and dump the rest. In 6/7 months time this will probably happen again. In the confusion in the pouring rain, no-one got his phone number so we don't know where the mummy dog is and can't spay her. Bad luck.
The pups are tiny, so a small breed. We guess cross Chihuahua. 2 pups have already been adopted as small ones go quickly.
MELVIN is still for adoption. He weighs 1.7 kg at this moment and is about 3 months old. Wormed, vaccinated and chipped.
Very lively and social little guy.

MIXED BREED, MALE
Puppies NABU, NILO, NACHO all males were born in a municipal holding kennel ( formerly called "killing stations") but luckily this is now against the law. A caring person took them and their mother away from there and brought them to a private shelter.
At the same time another pup called NOMAD was found in a dustbin nearby and was accepted by the mother dog so became part of her litter and got his puppy milk which is important for the future health of pups.

SERRA DA ESTRELA, FEMALE
Nina (and her companion Tino) came to the shelter directly from their home because the owner does not want them anymore. He says he cannot. The usual story like we hear thousand times.
Nina is a bit intimidated about being in the shelter but she will have to get used to. She is extremely gentle with people and social with other dogs. Not dominant at all, regardless her size. Very sweet and lovely.
Born August 2012 she weighs 30 kg and is 60 cm high

OLAF
MIXED BREED, MALE
4 pups were found in the ground under a tree. This is really not unusual here in Portugal. Mother finds this place to hide and give birth..all safe and dry. Problem begins when pups get too big for the hole and start coming out and wandering around.
Pups have been in the shelter for more than 6 weeks now and are 12/13 weeks old. Have had all vaccinations and can travel soon.
The shelter has NO proper puppy space so they are all in makeshift tiny runs with no space to run around and play as pups should be doing. Not good for pups at all.
Pups will be medium sized adults.

OLIVIA
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Again two puppies were dumped at the shelter and of course they were females. It is estimated that they are now 2.5 months old (born about February 15, 2016). Nobody knows what they have experienced and that is why they keep a little distance in the beginning, but when they know you they lose all fear and just want to be with you. We call them Olivia and Orla. They are very similar to each other and are therefore a real twin. They will be medium large, we think. These are the pictures of Olivia.

He and his four siblings are very social, happy and cheerful when someone comes near who pays attention to them. PENNY
SMALL CROSS BREED, FEMALE
PETRA AND PENNY are 2 very small female puppies found with their mother somewhere out in the countryside. Some people with good intentions caught them and locked them up in a hen house, thinking they were doing a good deed.
They were fed but had no further human contact, a situation which we often come across here. Eventually they were persuaded to give the mum and pups to the shelter where they can be seen, touched and cuddled by loving people.
Mummy dog is small, about 7kg and puppies are also small and will be small adults for sure. Penny is smooth haired and Petra rough-haired. Born around the beginning of December 2015.

ROUGH-HAIRED PODENGO, FEMALE
PORTIA and Twiggy, two little rough-haired Podengos, were rescued from a gypsy camp a few months ago. Both had pups.
They were in a bad condition at that time, as usual. Under-nourished, full of ticks and fleas etc etc. they were brought to the shelter. But these little dogs are hardy and never loose their playful spirit. They run up and down in a small corridor between other bigger runs and greet visitors very enthusiastically. Bianca is also in this group. Portia has no tail at all, born like that and is about 6 years old.
They are spayed and vaccinated and can be tested before adoption abroad. Lovely pets for apartments, size of a Corgi.

When Pumpkin was only a few days old, she was thrown into the river with the aim that she would drown. But why? Just because she is a female. But luckily the old man had not so much power, and she was stuck in the reed that grows along the banks of the river. And there she was found by a Dutch woman who came up to her groaning. With some searching the old man and the mother dog were found and because we assured the old man that we would provide an adoption, Pumpkin was allowed to stay with her mother. Estimated date of birth is 1 May 2016 and we expect that she will be a medium sized dog like her mother. Pumpkin and her brother Snoopy now live with a foster family.

PODENGO CROSS, MALE
Ricky came from another shelter where they have too many dogs and no time to care for them properly so Ricky being a small Podengo, came here to us where he runs free all day and sleeps in an inside kennel at night.
He is a small-medium cross Podengo and very handsome with green eyes. Ricky is a little bit shy but after half-an-hour and some trust in you and himself, he is fine.
Gets on well with all other dogs male/ female and loves to play. He weighs 10.5kg, born 15 May 2010, wormed, castrated, vaccinated, tested.

MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Rosalie was one of seven puppies, which were born on a very hot day in the garden of a villa, which has been rented out to vacationers. Mother Roxy had her puppies under and in the shade of a solar panel. The owner of the villa was clearly not an animal lover, because the mother dog and the puppies had to leave immediately. And thus Rosalie came into the shelter, only three days old. She was born on July 30, 2016. In the shelter she was received lovingly and well cared for by her mother Roxy. Mother Roxy weighs about 13 kilograms, she is a bit bulky with short legs, but Rosalie's father was apparently more robust and therefore we expect that Rosalie will be a medium size dog. SABRINA
PODENGO MIX, FEMALE
SABRINA, poor little Podenga mix, badly mistreated by people, probably hunters, and just dumped along the roadside near the shelter. She is a small doggy, 40cm high, 8kg. Estimated date of birth, 2012. Her body was covered in wounds and her ears have been mutilated. How can people keep on perpetrating these cruel acts and get away with it?
Is there no-one who reports them or holds them to account and makes them feel ashamed? Dogs here are utilities, when no longer useful (if ever) thrown away like garbage in the bins or along the road.
Sabrina is nevertheless very sweet and social with people and all dogs.
She needs a caring, loving home to forget the cutting of her ears and hitting and kicking by our fellow human beings. Spayed, vaccinated and tested.

SANDI
PODENGO CROSS, FEMALE
Last week an old friend called me in distress. Someone had put a puppy into her garden. Her first reaction was to put it back in the field next to her house as she had to go out. There are several locals living around so she thought the pup would belong somewhere. Next morning puppy was back in the garden curled up in an old, unused cat basket. Next day exactly the same thing happened so she called us for help. Puppy is female and undernourished but otherwise fine.
Probably been roaming for some time. About 12 weeks old, so born early December 2015, wormed and de-flead. Will get first vaccines in one week.
She is very friendly and playful and small, so will be a small-medium adult.
She was called SANDI due to her colour.

MIXED BREED, MALE
Snoopy would have been the only survivor of a litter of puppies, were it not that by chance his sister Pumpkin was found in the reeds of the river, and therefore could be saved. All his other siblings drowned because pups can not swim when they are still only a few days old. Due to illness of the "owner" we were able to take care of the mother dog, which we call Diana, and two puppies. Pumpkin is still with her mother due to growth retardation but Snoopy is now in foster care. Snoopy is a male, estimated date of birth May 1, 2016 and will be about medium when adult.

Worried about it's well being, he took it to the shelter next morning.
Sofia is a small, black and white pup, estimated DOB half november 2015 so now about 10 weeks old
Wormed and vaccinated and soon for adoption.

STORM
MIXED BREED, MALE
STORM is born in a Portuguese house to a family whose bitch got out of the garden whilst on heat. People here are very ignorant of what happens when their females disappear and return a few days later. Everybody happy until, surprise surprise, 9 weeks later the dog family is increased unexpectely. The shelter has agreed to help find homes for the pups on the condition that we sterilise the mother.
Storm was born on 10/10/2015 and is a very social, easy going pup who has adapted very well to being in different foster homes. At this moment, he is at our foster Yvonne who takes him to pup classes as well as teaching him to live with 4 other dogs of different ages, horses, cats and chickens. He will make someone or a family with kids a lovely pet. He is intelligent and learns easily, walks on lead and sleeps in a crate at night. He is wormed, vaccinated, chipped and ready to go to a permanent home. He weighs 7.5kg at this moment and will be a slender, medium sized adult, we think.

She was very friendly to everybody who talked to her and paid a little bit of attention. She had no microchip, no collar and no telephone number and all our efforts to find her owner failed. She is now up for adoption. This doggy fits in every family. Estimated date of birth is 15 September 2014, so she is now about 18 months old.

TIPPYGON
PODENGO IBICENCO CROSS, FEMALE
TIPPYGON received her name from Adrian because the tip of her right ear has been cut off and in a horrible, jagged manner, poor girl. She looks like a small Podenco Ibicenco
She was found near a cafe in Sao Bras but no-one knew her or wanted to help her so an English lady captured her and took her to the New Goldra Dog Sanctuary. Unfortunately, she was on heat and could not go into the shelter so we took her into our kennel where we can keep females on heat locked away from any males. After 3 weeks we noticed that she was getting "fatter" around her stomach and her nipples were enlarged! She was obviously pregnant and we had her spayed immediately. She was carrying 9 puppies.

TWIGGY
ROUGH-HAIRED PODENGO, FEMALE
TWIGGY and Portia, two little rough-haired Podengos, were rescued from a gypsy camp a few months ago.
Twiggy has a long tail and is about 5 years old.
They are spayed and vaccinated and can be tested before adoption abroad. Lovely pets for apartments, size of a Corgi.

VASILY
BEAUCERON CROSS (French Herder), MALE
VASILY is a victim of a divorce. Acquired as a pup his owner apparently had no time to work with him and train the basics for such an active dog. This is why he spend most of his time in a small patio. After the divorce he moved to a small apartment where he had to stay on the balcony while his owner was at work. No time for long walks etc.
We were asked for help and now Vasily is in a foster home, where he has his freedom and companion. As he is still very young (born January 10, 2015) he is a quick learner.
He is now for adoption and is looking for his forever home with an experienced family with time for walks and a large garden.
He is fully vaccinated, castrated, etc. and ready to go.

WANDA
MIXED BREED, FEMALE
Wanda was born on or about August 16, 2016 in a hollow ancient carob tree, next to a house where an 80 year old woman lives. This woman did not know what to do and the only thing she could do was feeding the mother dog some rice. When the puppies were 7 weeks old, one of the neighbours told us about the pups and we went immediately to have a look. Once there, the only thing we could do was to fish the pups out of the hollow tree. It were 3 females and 4 males. The puppies are now living in the shelter, because we are already full of puppies. Of course the shelter is not an ideal place for puppies, but sometimes we have to choose between two bad ones. We expect that Wanda will become a small medium.

WOMBEL
YOUNG MALE MIXED BREED WITH AMPUTATED EARS AND TAIL
WOMBEL was left at a gate in an English lady's garden in a cardboard box just before Xmas. He was about 4 weeks old and we thought he was dying. His ears were cut off horizontally and his tail amputated. He was completely covered in mange with bald patches predominating. Wombel is extremely active and can get very excited about toys and other dogs that come into rescue here. Then he wags his little tail stump and his behind as well, non stop. He is quiet in his crate where he goes for time out and to sleep at night. He needs a loving one-to-one relationship to give him stability and confidence. He can go on long walks and is reasonably good at recall. A really affectionate doggy just waiting for a home of his own.
Wombel is castrated and fully vaccinated. He is now 2 years old, weighs 18kg and is 54cm. We think he is a cross Pincher.
